Did you know there is a way to earn money while doing network marketing even when people aren't joining your business? How is this possible?

Let's start with an example of a person (John) who has just joined a network marketing company. John learns everything about the company, the products, the payplan, the websites, and the system. He's ready to explain it to anyone, forwards or backwards. Then he starts to advertise. John places online classifieds, pay per click ads in search engines, ezine ads, and for good measure, he buys some solo opt-in email blasts. Offline, John runs an ad in the local newspaper, sends out flyers, and mails out postcards. The phone list of mlm leads arrives, and he starts making phone calls to his list.

Everyone who responds to John's marketing is sent to his personal company website listed in the ad, or even better, a webpage John has built that promotes his business opportunity. The page explains everything about the opportunity, why it's so great, the earning potential, the products, and you can even sign up right there.

After about three months and a lot of money spent, John gets a couple dozen prospects, three of them join, and two of them quit after a month in the business. What is wrong with this picture?

John is missing a golden opportunity with all the marketing he is doing, and do you know what the problem is? He is ONLY marketing his BUSINESS opportunity, and NOTHING else.

But isn't that the point, to market the business? No, the point is to be making monthly cash flow while building your network marketing business at the same time. A lot of the people that visit John's website are already involved in an online business of some type, and even though they were curious enough to answer his ad, they aren't interested in joining another biz opp. But they are interested in marketing their own opportunity, and this is where John (and You) can turn them into customers. Here's how you do it.

Sell advertising. Find some good advertising websites that offer free affiliate programs. Some examples are classifieds, search engine submitting, ezine ads, and solo email ads. If you are using an advertising site yourself, see if they have an affiliate program so you can refer their service to others and get paid. Or, do a search for reputable advertising sites that deliver a good service and offer a good affiliate commission. Every marketer needs to advertise!

Sell leads. Again, visitors to your website might not want to join another biz opp, but they do need leads for their current business. Join one or two leads affiliate programs and promote them on your webpage. If you phone a prospect and they aren't interested in your business because they are in another mlm, ask them if they need leads. Every marketer needs leads!

Sell training. People involved in marketing always want to learn more about how to improve their business. Find some affiliate programs that offer home business or mlm training products, and promote them on your webpage. Promoting training products is a great way to earn some extra monthly cash flow.

Sell the products. You should always consider adding a reference to your company's products in your marketing. Many people who see your ads may not be interested in a business, but they might be interested in the products. For example, you could run a newspaper ad that promotes your health products business opportunity, but you could also say in the ad "for great weight loss products, call today". This way your ad targets both business builders and customers.

How do you sell these other services? Ideally, you have your own webpage, or access to a webpage that you can put all your offers on. Focus your page around your main business opportunity if you like, and promote your other affiliate programs at the top of the page or in the sidebar where they're easily seen. If you use a service yourself, give your own testimonial, or a testimonial of another satisfied customer. Make it easy for a visitor to see all your offers so they can decide which one suits them.

The basic idea of these strategies is to widen the appeal of your marketing. Realize that not everyone who follows your ad will be joining your mlm, so what else do you have to offer them? What else can you cross-promote? If done right, you will be building your business at the same time as selling a range of other products and services every month. You want the money from all your monthly sales to become greater than the money you spend on your advertising and business, and that's a great place to be!

Lots of sites approach the affiliate problem by making themselves a one-stop-shop for loads of links to other sites. This doesn't work very well either. People come to the Web to find sites that SPECIALIZE in something particular. They rarely buy from a site trying to be a jack of all trades.

THE SOLUTION.

Get yourself a web site that specializes in one particular subject. The narrower the better. If I'm hunting all over the Net for a site that tells me how to get heavy metal distortion from my little guitar amp, I jump for joy when I find your site telling me how to do it.

You could have a photo of you holding your Eric Claption guitart and leaning against your amp. You could have articles by you and other experts that tell step-by-step how to get the same sonic crunch all my favorite bands use.

And incidentally, you could feature the related products sold by GuitarCity (affiliate program) and more in-depth personal lessons from LearnGuitar (affiliate program).

What did you just do here? Realizing you don't have a weird uncle living in the basement who invents the hot new product everyone wants, and knowing you don't currently provide a service lots of businesses need, you built a fine site around one or two products someone else makes.

GET YOUR IN-DEPTH, SPECIALIZED, VISITOR-EXCITING SITE.

1. Start by thinking about what REALLY punches your buttons. You can't build an in-depth site unless you LOVE the subject you're focusing on. Don't think about this for months, days, or even for a couple of hours. Whatever hits you dead on as you read this is probably the one thing you can make fly.

2. Search for an affiliate program or two that sells a core product or service related to your interest. Most of the time you can simply use search engines to find sites that also focus on your topic. Nine times out of ten several of them will offer affiliate programs.

3. Get your own domain name. Have your main topic as part of the name. I love to go to BitShack.com at this stage. You get a domain and hosting for a year for about $50. You may be able to find somebody else who does it cheaper.

4. A site that looks like your very first won't cut it. You need to have the appearance of an old hand. Do this by getting a professionally designed logo. If you have a sharp looking logo at the top of the page, the rest of it can be plain text.

I found the guys at GotLogos.com via an affiliate link. They designed a half dozen logos for us, all for just $25 each. You can't get the "pro" look any cheaper.

5. Get a professional writer to create the first 300 words of your web site. Start at InternetWriters.com where they'll craft text that gets your visitors' juices flowing. They write cheap. Once people get excited on your first 300 words, it isn't' hard to keep them on your site until they have read everything else you have to offer.

6. Promote, promote, promote. Put your good advice (which you can borrow from books at the library--it's called research) on discussion forums. Place ads in email newsletters. Send your own press release to the media every month. Call your local talk radio station and see if they have 5 minutes to speak with you on-air. Provide advice their listeners can use.

Finally, I want you to chuckle, sneer, and laugh assuredly when the media starts up about how the Internet is having a hard time. Good! That's great news for you. With so many big corporate sites running out of money and so many little sites getting spooked out of existence, there has never been a better time for YOU to make YOUR mark online.

What is an information product?
The simplest definition is an info-product is any product that teaches something, or provides information.

That could include a book, audiotape, class, seminar, computer program, or report. Before the internet, information products were expensive to develop and extraordinarily difficult to distribute. Publishers, agents, engineers, classrooms, advertising all had to be taken into consideration.

The internet streamlines the process of distribution. Books and courses can now be downloaded immediately, without the costs of middlemen, production, and mailing. The upside is greater access to information to everybody. But because virtually anyone can create a product, the quality of all this information is less controlled. Caveat emptor. Thankfully, our discussion today is not about ethics or quality.

The goal here is to get you thinking about what you could create.

Online types of information you could develop and sell include:

Electronic books or e-books
An e-coursewhich consists of a series of email lessons people receive over a
period of time
Teleclasses or teleseminarswhich are group seminars held over a telephone
bridge line.
Audio CDs, data CDs, or multi-CD programs of seminars or interviews youve given
Special reports available for download from your website
Combinations of the above

Why would a service professional want to create an information product?
First, to increase their credibility. A personal injury attorney fights an uphill battle to appear ethical. A complimentary report to all inquiries on how to identify if a case has merit would begin to establish the attorney as credible and competent. It might also shorten the lead and intake time, while providing a valuable service to the client.

Make sure your information is relevant and interesting to your market. In 1995, this article would not have been perceived as worthwhile to most people. Two, what does this audience want and need? If they dont want it, it doesnt matter how much they need ittheres no sale. You should not only know a lot about what your audience wants, but you should love it. Its truly no fun to write about something youre dispassionate about. I did it for years, and Ill never choose or need to do it again.

Three, what are the specific benefits you want to provide your reader? Im going to be so bold as to suggest there are only ten benefits anyone actually wants, if that, so you dont need to rack your brains here.

What are the benefits? Jim Daniels listed them in his great e-book entitled E-book Secrets:

Avoid effort
Increase comfort
Increase cleanliness
Increase health
Escape pain
Increase praise
Increase popularity

Once youve figured out your target market, the benefits you want them to receive, and the appropriate delivery format, you need to think about presenting your information in an original way.

How can you present what you know in a way that is unique? Youre not expected to create ground breaking information, but try to present what you know in a different way from others. Sometimes we need to read the same information a dozen times before we get it. What causes something to resonate with someone could be a variety of things: the voice, the style, the format in which its presented. Experiment with what works for you.

If you want to make money on the internet then you absolutely
have to look into niche marketing. If you can find your niche

Finding a niche requires diligent research. Whether you have

brainstorm a list of businesses, products and industries. create
a list of keywords and phrases you think would be used by
individuals looking for these items. This is a very important
step to making money online. Do not take any short cuts here.

Using a software program such as WordTracker or a free resource
such as the Overture Keyword Selector Tool, type your keywords
in and search for words with a high amount of traffic.

Although a program like WordTracker can give you further details
such as how many sites compete for that market, you can also do
your own research.

Concentrate your attention on question phrases such as "how do
I..." or "Where can I...". These questions will clue you into
potential markets that need servicing.

Next look in Google Answers. Type some of your keywords. What
questions are being asked and how much are people willing to pay
for answers? If you find a group of keywords with a high number
of searches enter these words in your search engine.

What sites come up? Do they provide answers or solutions to the
problem? How are they making money on the internet ? Can you see
an opportunity to serve these individuals with your own internet
business.

Finding a niche can be an open door to a profitable online
business. Research the market and be certain that your product
or service is valuable to this group. Find forums or groups that
target this audience and pay close attention to their concerns.
